Cahuita National Park is one of Costa Rica's first national parks dedicated to the conservation of nature. Since its creation in 1978 to protect the coral reef and ecological systems, the park's committee and the government have worked together towards sustainable development.
This full-day tour includes a 3-hour drive from El Lugar resort. During the excursion, you will learn about the region's economic activities, such as pineapple and banana plantations, and see the protected volcanic and Talamanca Mountain ranges. While at Cahuita National Park, you will take a hike along easy trails that lasts approx. 3 hours where you can discover Costa Rica's rich biodiversity. Along the way, you may catch glimpses of white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, iguanas, snakes, toucans, raccoons, and even sloths! The tour includes a traditional lunch at one of the restaurants in Cahuita. Snorkeling is available at the coral reef, depending on the season. The park offers basic services such as bathrooms and showers.
